Kasiak Research is focusing on both autologous and allogeneic stem cell therapeutic products for various clinical indications. Our main focus is Adult Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC) derived from Adipose Tissue and Umbilical Cord. Data accumulated in vitro and in vivo, supports the concept of MSCs as universal stem cells, suggesting that allogeneic MSCs can be transplanted without the need for donor-recipient matching and are therefore safe, easy and effective for cell therapy. Kasiak Research takes advantage of this ability of MSCs for stem cell therapy to design treatments for incurable diseases.

What are MSCs ?
MSCs are undifferentiated, multi-potent cells that can be derived from various adult tissues sources. It has been demonstrated that mesenchymal stem cells are safe, effective and non-immunogenic when used for various degenerative diseases. They are not rejected by the body if transplanted from healthy donors to patients since they are hypo-immunogenic. Extensive immunological data is available to show that allogeneic cells neither get rejected nor cause graft vs. host disease in donors.

How do MSCs work ?
MSCs, after administration, have been shown to "home in" to the site of injury due to paracrine mechanisms. MSCs are known to differentiate into the three lineage tissues (Osteogenic, Chondrogenic and Adipogenic), modulate immune response, inhibit inflammation and secrete factors that stimulate angiogenesis, tissue repair and hematopoietic stem cell engraftment.
